About Us

CG Composites Australia was founded in 1990 by John Ogilvie. John was appointed by Ciba Geigy (“CG”) as the Queensland reseller for their range of araldite products. Andrew Ogilvie joined the company in 1995 after a successful career in professional yacht racing and project management for Farr International Yacht Designs.

By the mid 1990’s Ciba Geigy’s epoxy business had spun off multiple times and later sold to become the advance materials business unit of the Huntsman Corporation. Huntsman Araldite products long remained the backbone of the CG Composites business. Through the years we also have been major resellers for other well-known brands represented by Gurit, Hexcel, Boeing and Kuhlmann Electro-Heat.

CG Composites Australia continued to serve a broad range of customers from marine, automotive, aerospace, mining and specialised industries large and small. We have always been happy to support small business and hobbyists have been one of the few companies that sell in small quantities. This decision kept the company operating successfully through the GFC.

Sylvia Ogilvie joined the business in 2015 as the business manager. External factors such as fluctuating exchange rates, rising fuel and shipping costs, coupled with constantly changing legislation surrounding the selling, storing and despatching of dangerous goods demanded that we focus on our business in terms of improving customer service and business efficiency. CG became dedicated to the idea of being a “one stop shop” and also supplied the necessary consumables to get the job done. This additional service as been embraced by large and small companies.

Now CG Composites is changing again. As of June 1 2020, our sole focus will be on bringing innovative products from Kuhlmann Electro-Heat into the Australian market.  While CG will continue in spirit we will now be called ThermoBlanket. Even with a new name our 30 years of customer commitment and know-how will not change. We’ll continue to take great satisfaction in providing the right product and information in an easy, timely and accurate manner.
